Germany produces roughly one third of the world’s hops. 80% of all German noble hops are grown in Hallertau. Hallertau (also Holledau) is an area in Bavaria, in southern Germany. With almost 180 km² of hop plantation, it is one of the largest continuous hop-planting areas on the globe.
