Every region in the world has preferences for certain barley varieties. In Germany there are different barley varieties grown and harvested. Most brewing malts are produced from two-row summer barley and are malted in the region of their harvest. Important are high purity of the grain, and enzymatic properties. To ensure the absence of of residual pesticides barley is regularly checked for contamination in Germany. This way we make sure German beers live up to their great fame.
